I work for a large company. Not huge, but pretty large. It employs about two hundred twenty thousand employees globally, though mostly in the US. And there are some really good benefits.
I don’t utilize all of the benefits, but the fact that they are available is comforting, and great for employees that DO use them. There is, to name a few: maternal and paternal leave; adoption services; employee event services; counseling; financial services; retirement; tuition reimbursement; vacation, holiday, and sick time (not that these matter when one retires); occasional on-site events; carpool supplement; and more.
As I said, I don’t take advantage of all of them, because, well, I don’t need to. But it is nice to know they are there. Some of these certainly won’t be missed because they don’t matter, some won’t be missed because they won’t be needed (think “time off”), and a couple will be missed because of what they are (think of the on-site events).
