Parking

Parking

When I worked at the job before my last, I had to drive into the “city” and find a parking space in the parking garage.

At my last job, when I decided to start doing more walking, I parked far enough away from the door that I pretty much parked wherever I wanted. But I could look out the window and see how crowded the main section of the parking lot was.

One other issue depended on the season. With these open air lots, there wasn’t any coverage – though perhaps the lone tree here and there. But because of these open lots: in the summer, the car would get super-hot; and in the winter, there was sometimes either snow or frost on the car that needed to be cleared, or it was super-cold inside and it took a couple miles before the car produced heat.

But these are things that I will not only not have to worry about (we park our car in our garage at home) in retirement. Trips to the store, or a movie theater, or wherever may result in having to deal with this a little (more the movie than store because, well, time), but it generally won’t be an issue. It also won’t be something I’ll miss.
