Snacking

Snacking

I like to snack. Who doesn’t, right? When walking thousands of steps a day, every working day, not only does a small appetite grow, it is easier to “walk off” the snack. And by snack, I’m referring to a half-dozen Raisinettes, or dark chocolate covered acai and blueberry Raisinette-like things, or maybe a few jellybeans. Nothing too much – just a little something at about 10:00 AM to tide me over until the next eating opportunity – which was usually lunch.

I’d like to think that when I retire, that I stay active enough that I can still snack without gaining weight, or that I might not want to snack at all. Hopefully I’ll be busy enough, at least on most days, where I won’t to snack. And if I do snack, it will hopefully be healthy / healthier snacks.

On on-going challenge I think that I’ll face is not gaining weight. Controlled snacking – or the lack of it – will help with that. As will exercise. Finding that proper balance.

And by exercise, it need not be weightlifting, or running daily marathons, but activities: minor yard work, straightening, walking, whatever.

So I think when I retire, I’ll miss the snacking – the joy of eating.
