I’ll preface this topic with saying: “Yes, we have a land line.” I hardly ever give out my cell phone number either.
Even though I occasionally receive spam calls at the office, they are very few and very far in between – probably because my work number isn’t published anywhere, and the ONLY time I freely give it out is, say, for a professional organization for something work related.
While working at home during the pandemic, it became evident how many spam phone we received at home. They come in on Fridays when I work from home, but it is more evident on the other days too. And most of them are during the day, not in the evenings.
And based on their frequency during the week during the day that I am home that these calls come in, I can say that it isn’t something I’m going to miss. Because I’m not going to miss them. Not because I WANT to get the calls, but rather than, upon retirement, I will be in an environment where the spam calls will become more frequent, and there won’t be an escape. I’m not going to “miss” them because it will be more of an “I can’t escape them” sort of situation.
So when I retire, I will want to miss them, but alas, I don’t think I’ll be able to avoid them – and that’s my prediction. A prediction a little different than most of the others.
